What this file is, and who holds the pen

Fixture File is an independent, plain-English guide to what dental implants cost and what the money buys. It is written by an editorial team, not by or with a dentist — and every page says so, because on a health topic that fact belongs in daylight.

The idea

A fixture file, on an engineer's shelf, is the folder of drawings that says what each part is and which line of the bill it belongs to. Dental implant pricing needs exactly that treatment. The public conversation about it runs on advertised teasers, undated averages and clinic marketing; the honest material — insurer claims data, survey-based cost guides, regulator pages, peer-reviewed survival numbers — exists but is scattered. This site files it: one figure per line, one source per figure, one date per source.

The rules the sheets follow

  • No dentist reviewed this site, and it never pretends otherwise. Every page carries the notice. We never write “dentally reviewed”, we invent no experts, and nothing here diagnoses or recommends treatment for anybody.
  • Every fragile fact carries a source and a read date. What we could not verify at the source, we left out — including several numbers you may have seen elsewhere and expect to find here.
  • Costs are dated ranges with scope attached, never a single confident figure, because no official US implant price exists.
  • Money is disclosed where it happens. A few partners — savings-plan marketplaces and a dentist-booking service — can pay commissions; the disclosure page names them, and no clinic or lender is among them.
  • The free answer comes first wherever it is the honest one: dental schools, community health centers, public coverage, clinical trials.

Corrections

If a figure on any sheet no longer matches its source, or a source has moved, write to [email protected] with the page and the line. Corrections change the sheet, not a footnote — and the sources-read date on the page updates with them.
